Political and sectarian violence continue to spread throughout the world. The middle-east and Africa represent areas where clashes between western culture and fundamental Islam often lead to bloodshed. Extremist groups target the poor and the ignorant in their recruiting efforts, and people in impoverished areas who lack sufficient access to food, water, and education are among those most susceptible.

The Neutral Development Project is a non-profit organization founded to help impoverished areas build basic infrastructure in a nonaligned (“neutral”) environment. We target areas on the periphery of extremist spheres of influence, specifically groups most at risk of being drawn into harmful religious or political conflict.

Our hope is for the independence that comes with self-sustainment to enable those we help to make their own choices about their own beliefs. We believe that with their basic needs met, those exposed to potentially dangerous ideologies are less likely to allow extremist violence to bleed into the their homes and villages. Our goal is to empower people to help themselves.
